You could be low on an integral molecule needed for proper sleep.

See, even if you sleep for eight hours each night…

You still might not be getting the deep sleep your body needs.

So, whether you toss and turn at night…

Or you sleep through the night but you’re fatigued during the day…

The ECS is a neurochemical network within the body which regulates various bodily functions including emotions, appetite, and sleep.

Your body naturally releases endocannabinoid molecules to bind with ECS receptors. [1]

These endocannabinoids have been found to regulate sleep in TWO MAJOR WAYS:

The sleep-wake cycle (circadian rhythm) – Certain hormones are released within your brain telling it when it’s time to wind down for sleep or wake up for the day. If these hormones fail to be released, or are circulating at the wrong time, you could feel tired during the day and/or restless at night. [2, 3]

Time spent in certain sleep stages – There are two types of sleep, non-rapid eye-movement (NREM) sleep and rapid eye-movement (REM) sleep. NREM sleep is divided into stages 1, 2, 3, and 4, with each stage being deeper than the last. Deep sleep is the most reparative time of your sleep. If you’re not spending enough time in deep sleep, you could wake up still feeling tired. [2, 3, 4]

According to researchers, not only is it possible to be low in endocannabinoids, but this could have an impact on how well you fall and stay asleep, as well as your quality of sleep. [5]

Other symptoms may include:

With all of its research, CBD has been shown to be a well-tolerated compound, helpful for many different types of ailments. [7]

And one major benefit of CBD is how it interacts with your ECS.

This can help restore endocannabinoid levels…

And bring homeostasis into the body.

Broad spectrum CBD contains ALL the cannabinoids and plant compounds that full spectrum CBD does – except for THC. Meaning, full spectrum CBD can contain up to 0.3% THC (or more than 0.3% if it’s derived from marijuana plants), whereas broad spectrum, hemp-based CBD (like SomaLeaf) will have closer to zero THC. No CBD oil will get you high, but those with THC in them may show up on a drug test. When speaking with your doctor or researching CBD products, you’ll need to do your research on which type of product will work best for you.

Nothing. CBD can be found in BOTH hemp and the marijuana plant (which is hemp’s cousin). Molecularly, they are the same. BUT hemp plants, by law, can only contain trace amounts of THC (0-0.3%), the psychoactive component in marijuana. SomaLeaf extracts its broad spectrum CBD from the hemp plant, and it contains close to 0.0% THC.

SomaLeaf has a shelf life ranging from 12 to 18 months, depending on how the product is stored. Keeping your SomaLeaf in the refrigerator can extend its expiration date by 6 months (to 18 months total from bottled-on date).

SomaLeaf contains 30 servings per bottle, and each serving has 17mg of CBD.

While the research into CBD oil is growing, there is no consensus about how much CBD should constitute a single dose. There is no recommended daily allowance (RDA). It is generally recommended that you begin with lower doses and frequencies, then gradually increase until you experience the desired benefits.

Consult with a physician before use if you have a serious medical condition or use prescription medications. A doctor’s advice should be sought before using this product.

There’s a possibility that you might need to increase your dose, as your body weight and individual body chemistry affect how you tolerate CBD. But be cautious…Start low and slow, and make sure you give the CBD ample time to work before taking more. The general rule of thumb seems to be sticking with a low dose for about a week before increasing it.

SomaLeaf is flavored with orange essential oil and has a tangy, tropical, and slightly sweet flavor.

Recent reviews suggest that CBD has no effect on cognition in healthy individuals, but can improve cognitive processes including attention, executive function, working memory, and episodic memory in various pathological conditions including acute THC intoxication.[34][35]

A 2017 study showed that CBD can have calming effects, meaning that it can reduce stress and be calming. When this potential for reducing stress and enhancing calm is combined with CBD’s potential to help muscle relaxation, many experience feelings of relaxation in both the mind and body.[36]

CBD-produced increase in appetite is a relatively rare side effect. A 2018 review surveyed 2,409 CBD users, and found that only 6.35% of them reported increased hunger as a side effect. It’s also still unclear whether this increase in appetite that some CBD users experience translates to any corresponding increase in their body weight. If you’re fearful that CBD oil will make you gain weight, it’s probably best to try using it and determine for yourself if it results in an increase in appetite.[37]

Expect to feel the effects of sublingual administration within 30 minutes, if not sooner.

There aren’t many studies done on toxic levels of CBD; however, according to a 2011 study, published in Current Drug Safety, the “toxic” dose of CBD falls somewhere around 20,000 mg of CBD, taken almost all at once. To put this into perspective, the suggested single serving dose is somewhere around 5-20 mg per day. (1 dose of SomaLeaf is 17mg.) While studies have been done on dosages around 1500 mg per day, most tinctures contain between 100 and 1500 mg – in an entire bottle. That means that someone would need to ingest between 13 and 200 entire bottles of CBD tincture all at once, depending upon the concentration of CBD within the bottles. Simply put: when taken at recommended doses, or, even above recommended daily doses, the average CBD user does not need to worry about taking too much. That being said, if you’re currently taking medication and would like to try CBD, it’s essential to discuss this with your doctor first.[38]

In a nutshell…no. Several studies, like this one done in March 2017, show that CBD, a non-intoxicating cannabinoid, has a very limited potential for abuse.[39] In fact, research indicates that CBD can actually help in addiction recovery.

As long as CBD doesn’t interfere with any medications a senior person (age 55+) might be taking, high quality CBD (like SomaLeaf) can provide many benefits and help ease a number of common ailments for the aging population – joint discomfort, stress, low moods, high blood sugar, and poor sleep. CBD can also help promote bone density and heart health.

General consensus for seniors is to start at a low dose and go slow, until the desired results are achieved. Always consult your doctor before starting CBD, especially if you’re on prescribed medications.
